10 Minutes of the Real World

Yesterday was the first time in 2 weeks that I had been out into the Real World.  I was only out for a maximum of 10 minutes, and I was driven 2 minutes down the road to my destination (Boots, to collect a prescription), but that 10 minutes felt good.  Good in that I felt able to make that short trip.  I couldn’t have managed any longer, and had to rest when I got back, but it was good.

This wasn’t the first achievement of the day though, that was managing to get up at 10:20am, instead of the midday I had been getting up at while ill with flu.  I was a little later in getting up today (11am), but that’s still ok.  It’s still an overall small improvement.  I know it will take time to get back to where I was before the flu, but I will get there eventually.

I am going to go and recline in my armchair now, with my feet up, snuggle blanket and rest.

An ‘Easy’ Day

Today was an ‘easy’ day.  Easy in that I had a much needed restful day.

It’s not a complaint, more of a puzzlement, but why is it that when I know I have an alarm to wake me up at x o’clock that I can’t get a wink of sleep?  Well, that happened last night, even though I went to bed tired enough to sleep.  So I thought.

Anyway, puzzlement aside, the first achievement of today was to put the rubbish out.  Again this is the first time I had done this since going down with the flu.  I went straight back to bed and slept for 4 hours.

My next achievement was to unpack a small bag of half a dozen shoes and put them into their new home.

The rest of the day I have spent resting, reclined in the armchair with my feet up, and I managed to work on a cross-stitch project for a short while.  Resting might not be an achievement in itself, but recognising the need to rest most definitely is.
